January Product Release Notes

We’re kicking off 2026 with a fresh set of product updates designed to make hiring simpler, clearer and more secure. From stronger account security controls to small but meaningful reporting improvements, these updates are all about giving teams greater confidence and visibility as they move candidates through the hiring process. Here’s a look at what’s new in Referoo this month.

New features and updates

Strengthened security policies and added optional settings

We’ve introduced stronger security policies and password controls to further protect user accounts and reduce security risk.

The minimum password length has been increased to 13 characters. For any user who resets their password moving forward, their new password must be at least 13 characters long.

We have also introduced additional, optional settings that can be enabled for your account by contacting Referoo Support.

These optional settings include:

• limiting password changes to once per day
• preventing recently used passwords from being reused
• expiring passwords every 90 days, prompting users to set a new one
• triggering a 1-minute lockout to apply to a user’s account after 5 failed login attempts
• generating alerts to the Parent Account holder after repeated lockouts.

Please reach out to Referoo Support to have any of these optional settings enabled on your account.

Reference checks have been removed from the Check Report

The Check Report has been updated so reference checks no longer appear in the drop-down menu and are excluded from the total tally, as shown in the image. This makes the report clearer for users and keeps the focus on the most relevant background check information.

Candidate email notification when a referee completes an Employment History Check

Candidates will now receive an email notification when a referee completes a request as part of an Employment History Check. This keeps candidates in the loop and reduces any uncertainty about whether their referees have responded.
